Dear Colleagues and Friends

We invite esteemed experts, researchers, and professionals to our upcoming National Symposium on "Nematodes, the Unseen Foes and Friends of Plant and Soil Health." This symposium provides a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between researchers working in the domain of nematology.

Nematodes, microscopic roundworms found in various Earth habitats, including soil ecosystems, wield significant influence despite their size. They shape plant and soil ecosystems, acting as both adversaries and allies.

Certain nematodes are hidden foes, causing harmful plant diseases and economic losses. These pathogenic nematodes affect plant roots, causing stunted growth and wilting. In contrast, beneficial nematodes aid plant and soil health by cycling nutrients and enhancing soil structure. Some beneficial nematodes even prey on soil pests, regulating their populations naturally.

Understanding nematode diversity and interactions is essential for effective management. Identifying nematode species in soil empowers researchers and farmers to develop targeted interventions. Integrated pest management, including crop rotation and biocontrol agents, can reduce pathogenic nematode impact and enhance beneficial nematode abundance.

The study of nematodes, known as nematology, has made significant strides in recent years, uncovering new insights into the complex relationships between nematodes, plants, and soil. Ongoing research aims to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions for nematode management, minimizing reliance on chemical pesticides and optimizing soil health.

The "Nematodes, the Unseen Foes and Friends of Plant and Soil Health" National Symposium gathers experts, researchers, and professionals to explore nematode intricacies. Through presentations and discussions, we uncover sustainable agricultural practices.

Join us to unveil nematode mysteries and their impact on agriculture.

Sincerely,

Dr. Matiyar Rahaman Khan
