I have completed my Graduate and Post-graduate from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata in Biotechnology. I am a Research Scholar working at Indian Statistical Institute, Giridih and also in Jadavpur University. I have submitted my thesis and am awaiting defense. My work is entitled, ‘In vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities of copper nanoparticles against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and effects on rice metabolism’. The research mainly focuses on the application of nanoparticles as antibacterial/ antifungal agent against agricultural pests, primarily against rice pests and benchmarking it for future commercialization. For achieving the purpose, I carried out both in vitro and in vivo applications of nanoparticles against rice pests, mainly Xanthomonas oryzae causing Bacterial Leaf Blight in rice. Besides demonstrating the pesticidal activity, I also studied the effect of the nanoparticles on plant metabolism. I love collaborating and exchanging scientific thoughts with other delegates of my field. Apart from research I love reading, travelling, music and writing blogs.

I have pursued both my graduation and post-graduation from the University of Calcutta in Botany. Currently, I am working as a UGC-SRF in Indian Statistical Institute, Giridih and also in Jadavpur University. The title of my ongoing thesis is “Rice bacterial endophytes : diversity and their role in managing abiotic and biotic stress”. My work is mainly focused on studying the diversity of bacterial endophytes of rice cultivated throughout the state of West Bengal as well as characterizing and implementing them in ameliorating abiotic stress (mainly salinity) and biotic stress (against two pathogens, Xanthomonas oryzae and Rhizoctonia solani) in rice plants. The broader aim of my work is to decode the mechanism of plant-microbe interaction, to understand the mode of action of microbes in amending stress. Apart from doing research, I love baking, reading, music and travelling.

I have done my graduation in Biochemistry and post-graduation in Agricultural Biotechnology. I joined the Indian Statistical Institute as a Junior Research Fellow in July 2019. Currently, I am in the second year of my PhD work. I am broadly interested in agricultural microbiology and biotechnology. My PhD work is based on the endophytic fungal community and their interaction with root knot nematode. The overarching goal of my research to develop an eco-friendly technology for the management of this important pest of rice.

I’ve completed both my B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Department of Zoology of Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal. I was an aspirant of Scholarship for Higher Education under INSPIRE Scheme of DST. I’ve qualified Joint CSIR-UGC NET 2019, December. I’ve grown my interest in Ecology during my graduation and later in my masters when I came across different rooted and the startling portion of Population Ecology, Community Ecology, and Species Interaction, those fascinated me the most. My M.Sc. dissertation work is based on the Allee Effects, where it is pointed out that predation, as a general ecological mechanism, drives the Allee Effects in small populations and which in turn induces population extinction. I’m a Research Scholar working at the Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Giridih, as a Junior Research Fellow. My project is entitled “Relationship between invasive species niche and traits: identifying drivers for plant invasions at a regional scale”. My project aims to use an integrative approach to link the regional spatial data structure of invasive plant species across mainland India, species niche properties, and species traits to understand the potential causes of invasive species distributions. Apart from my work, I love to watch football, movies and listen to music.

I have pursued both my Bachelors and Masters in Botany from University of Calcutta. I joined the lab in 2015 as a research scholar and I am interested in plant-nanoparticles interactions. My research involves synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles and investing the mechanism of uptake, translocation and desorption behavior of nanoparticles inside the plant cells. I am also interested to see the effects of nanoparticles on soil microbiota. Apart from research I love reading, cooking, music and travelling.

I have completed my Bachelor and Master degree in Physics from Midnapore College (Autonomous) affiliated to the Vidyasagar University, Midnapore, West Bengal. Currently I am working as DST-INSPIRE-SRF in Indian Statistical Institute, Giridih (AERU) and also in Jadavpur University (School of Materials Science and Nanotechnology) on a topic entitled as “Development of novel multilevel theranostic nanocomposite and its atomistic modelling of mechanism”. The primary focus of my research is on the development of a magnetic nanocomposite having potential on therapeutics (photothermal and photodynamic therapy), Imaging (MRI, CT, UCL etc.) used for cancer treatment. The broad area of my research is based on structural and optical characterization of nanoparticle, variation of ROS generation and scavenging activity, variation of spin lattice relaxivity (r1) and spin spin relaxivity (r2) used for MRI, anticancerous activity against breast cancer cell. Behind all of this, we are also looking to investigate antimicrobial activity of our synthesized nanoparticle against different pathogen. Apart from research work I love to watch cricket, movies and reading books.
